Psychological Resilience and EbA
Chaired By

Nature-based solutions and ecosystem-based adaptation are not only instrumentally crucial for realizing a sustainable planet themselves, but they can also bolster the mindsets, relationships, and commitments of people towards each other. This, in turn, mutually reinforces similar commitments and relationships to the rest of nature through reciprocity, nurture, and well-being. Reciprocal connections between psycho-social and ecological conditions, as well as between experiences of trauma and capacities for nurture among people in their relationship to the planet, have long been noted. However, they have rarely been absorbed and applied to yield more effective and sustained action.
The FEBA Working Group on Psychological Resilience and EbA (PR&EbA) identifies key opportunities — best practices, policies, investments, tools — to mainstream use of psychological resilience aims and knowledge to strengthen the “social climate” of communities in ways that mutually reinforce NbS/EbA adoption and impact. The WG-PR is a collaboration between the World Resources Institute, Billion Minds Institute (BMI) and its Billion Minds Project and COP² network, which is leading various efforts to scale psychological resilience capacity building within climate resilience mobilization and capacity building.
