Session at COP26

November 6, 2021

One Health, among other holistic approaches, serves as “a cross-cutting and systemic approach to health based on the fact that human health and animal health are interdependent and linked to the health of the ecosystems in which they co-exist” (UNEP). It is a pragmatic approach for recognizing the interconnectedness and accelerating progress towards restoring balance with nature by addressing the common drivers of climate change, land degradation, and biodiversity loss.

This event brings together the Secretariats of the Rio Conventions and the GEF to reflect on articulating a One Health approach that leverages interconnections between biodiversity, climate change and desertification. The panelists will share views on how these synergies can be mutually reinforcing and support the achievement of health and well-being for all.
